Stuart, Fl. And Baltimore, MD – September 9th, 2019 - SubCableWorld (SCW) the preferred information resource of the submarine telecom industry, and the Business Network for Offshore Wind (The Network), a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing an offshore wind supply chain in the United States, have announced that they will hold the first conference focusing specifically on offshore wind cable supply chain issues in the United States.
The one-day event, entitled “Subsea Cables and Technology Development,” will be held on January 23, 2020, at the Houston Aquarium in Houston, Texas.
The conference will cover issues related to the development of the US cable supply chain, insurance and risk management, technological advances in cable designs, installation and maintenance and other topics. In addition, SCW will present its demand forecast for the US offshore wind market. Additional details about the agenda will be released soon. For more information, visit www.offshorewindus.org.
“Cables are a critical component for offshore wind farms, but in the past, they have not always received the attention they deserve,” said John Manock, editor of SubCableWorld. “This conference will put offshore wind cables front and center in the conversation and will present an opportunity for the industry to recognize the importance of developing a domestic cable supply chain.”
Liz Burdock, CEO & President of The Network, said, “Cable damage accounts for as much as 80% of insurance claims at offshore wind farms. Our goal for this event is to focus on the US offshore wind cable supply, best practice installation methods, and technological innovations so we start the US industry off right, helping to reduce failures and keeping costs low.”

TSC joined CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA), a sponsor of the 12th annual Treasure Coast Waterway Cleanup, to remove over two hundred pounds of trash and debris from local waterways.
In late 2018, fashion powerhouse Calvin Klein announced its plans to call time on print advertising in favor of a “digital-first, socially amplified” marketing strategy. Bold commitments like this, as corporates vie to out trump each other in the sustainability stakes, leave media experts torn on whether print has, finally, been laid to rest by the digital revolution.
TSC is the publisher of two leading marine publications, Environment, Coastal & Offshore (ECO) and Ocean News & Technology (ON&T), and we learn about marine-based issues or concepts before they become part of the cultural zeitgeist. Case in point, the blue economy.
It seems like there’s a day for everyone and everything these days—June 6 was National Applesauce Cake Day here in the US—but June 8 is always a much sweeter celebration for us at TSC: World Oceans Day.
SubCableWorld (SCW) the leading news and information service for the submarine cable industry, has completed an analysis of US offshore wind cable demand for a 10-year period from 2019 through 2028. As there are still many variables in the US offshore wind market, SubCableWorld generated three scenarios to model demand for offshore wind cable. These suggested demand ranging from 6,500 kilometers to 12,000 kilometers of cable to be contracted for by 2028.
How you can increase brand awareness and promote products in harmony
When it comes to marketing, the question is which channels are the most appropriate for your company, what message should be prioritized, and with how much frequency? You know the importance of advertising because it supports all your sales efforts. But how do you know you have the right balance between print and digital media? Let us clarify.
It can be a daunting task trying to shortlist which offshore equipment is the right fit for your project. Sure, the internet serves up an ocean of information, but who has the time to spend days, sometimes weeks, trawling through all the necessary small print. Let us save you the bother.
Marketing can be costly. There, I said it. Happy now, finance? Nothing like a spot of interdepartmental bickering to fuel debate, but true marketing is as fundamental to any business as the diligent efforts of our peers in accounts receivables.
I recently attended the much-celebrated Ocean Business conference, in Southampton (UK). As a relative newcomer to the industry, I was excited to immerse myself in the world of “hands-on ocean technology and training,” to borrow the organizers’ rallying cry.
